Lessons from Lockdown: Don’t Give Up… Pivot!
“Pivoting is not the end of the disruption process, but the beginning of the next leg of your journey.” ~ Jay Samit
What did we learn from quarantine that we would be wise to keep applying?
🎯 PIVOT:
Few of us can hear ‘that’ word without recalling ‘Ross’, with the coach on ‘Friends’… Nonetheless, it’s a great word during these times!
One colleague has been forced by her governor to make hand sanitizer, not moonshine, at her distillery… Whilst that’s pivotal by default, her attitude is still awesome. I’m speaking more about shifting ‘Live’ corporate events onto a virtual platform, such as Zoom.
We can let go of the attachment of doing business one way. Pivot, and create a whole new way to share our gifts with the world.
Curiously, many are discovering that they CAN work from home. They LIKE working from home, they CAN create delivery campaigns and they CAN serve their customers. And they LOVE not being in rush hour, doing online yoga, eating in and family dinners at home. Others are admitting that they never really liked their job in the first place and are putting more focus into their ‘side hustle’.
The world is, has been and always will be, your oyster! Lean into the situation, and joyfully brainstorm 50 creative ways that you can think of, to give the world your unique gifts. Circle ‘the one’ that jumps out and get to it!
In my own coaching business, I normally talk to my clients and group clients on Zoom, so there was very little change when lock down hit for me. However, several of my clients, who were becoming new coaches, didn’t have huge social media followings, did a lot of speaking, locally, which was shut down. They were experiencing a tremendous amount of fear, lack and scarcity about why anyone would want to work with them
I decided to offer them a ‘Double Certification’ in my processes, and my master coach level processes from my master trainer, whilst everyone was stuck in lockdown. I have never offered certifications before, yet I knew that they needed to integrate their fears while practicing these processes. They needed ‘cutting edge’ tools to become a cut above the pack, in relation to their competition. They also needed sales skills to close clients. They would be prepared to ‘thrive’ as people came out of lockdown, ready with their programs and packages. The group is tight, thriving and already closing new clients. Feeling confident, focused and grateful that I pivoted – to serve their needs when they needed it the most.
🎯 LESSON:
Keep being innovative, creative and surround yourself with people who respond, not react.
Asking How Is This For Me? What else is possible? What do I want to maintain that nurtures my work/life balance?
Pivoting takes balls. Or ovaries 😉
It’s scary, when you’ve done something one way, and you have to change during a global pandemic! It’s not for the faint of heart at the best of times! Integrating fear is essential.
Knowing what you know, and not letting your ‘overthinking’ talk you into circles, is imperative!
Having someone to have your back when you ‘wobble’, is key. A seasoned coach with a thriving business, is exactly what you require to ensure that your success is sustainable and that it grows.
